Tuesday 29 September to Thursday 1 October, 2026
Part of the Oceania Orienteering Carnival that extends from
Saturday 26 September 2026 to Sunday 4 October 2026.
October school holidays could be full of adventure, challenge and great experiences!
The Oceania Orienteering Championships are coming to Canberra — a nine‑day carnival run by Orienteering Australia and Orienteering ACT, packed with top‑tier events that anyone can be part of. Whether this is your first orienteering carnival or you’re an experienced fanatic, this is your chance to explore, compete and celebrate the thrill of finding flags with hundreds of other young athletes. One place, one time, all ages and all abilities getting active together.

If you’re 12–19 years old, the mid‑week Schools Championships are the absolute highlight. State teams from across Australia and New Zealand will be battling it out — but you don’t need to be on a team to join in. Independent athletes are also warmly invited. These races are fast, high‑energy and full of atmosphere. You’ll meet heaps of other teens, build friendships, and experience the kind of camaraderie that keeps people coming back year after year.

Orienteering Meet at Galambary (OMG)
During the Carnival, independent juniors (ie not part of the representative state teams) can also join the OMG program — a fun, optional add‑on that gives you coaching support, social activities and a great crew to hang out with. It’s only $20, making it one of the best-value parts of the whole week.
OMG includes:
- Coaching at all Oceania and ASOC events
- Fun activities and social sessions
- Presentations and community vibes
You’ll need to organise your own meals and accommodation, and juniors must have a supervising adult attending the meet.

How to join in:
Entries close 5 September 2026.
If you want a school holiday that’s active, social, outdoors and unforgettable, this is it.
