Students – Get ready for an unforgettable season of school orienteering!
In partnership with the NSW Department of Education, the annual Sydney Regional School Orienteering Events are back for 2026 — and they’re the perfect chance for students to step outside, challenge themselves, and discover the thrill of navigating through the great outdoors.

These events are ideal for bringing a friend, a whole class, or even an entire year group.
Every participant gets to experience both an individual race and an afternoon team relay, creating a full day of adventure, and achievement.
Course distances and difficulty levels are carefully designed so that every age and ability can succeed.
🌟 2026 Sydney Regional School Events

To help schools prepare, we’ve put together a set of pre‑event notes — a great starting point for teachers and students. And if you’d like extra support, the Bold Horizons team or Orienteering NSW coaches are available to visit your school to run preparation sessions.
Entries are submitted through your school and emailed in. The entry spreadsheet and entry liaison contact are available here.

🏆 NSW School Orienteering Championships – Open to All!

15 August 2026 — NSW School Forest Championships – Vittoria (between Bathurst and Orange)
16 August 2026 — NSW School Sprint & Relay Championships – Orange (Kinross Wolaroi School)

These Championships are open entry — no qualification is required. If a student enjoys orienteering, they’re welcome to take part.
Even better, parallel public events run alongside the school races, so the whole family can join in at the same time and place. It’s a full weekend of fun, challenge, and community.
This year’s Championships will be hosted in the Orange district, a fantastic destination for a winter getaway. It’s a popular destination, so we recommend booking accommodation early.
